General Math, First Semester (HMA2491B)

General Math, First Semester is a remediation course intended to reinforce and expand student’s foundational skills. This course is centered on personalized learning. It includes arithmetic operations, whole numbers, exponents, order of operations, factors, multiples, absolute value, integers, fractions, decimals, measures of central tendency, rates, ratios, proportions, percents, percent increase and decrease, square roots, scientific notation, and unit conversions.


This course is driven by Knewton’s fully integrated adaptive learning platform (alta). Knewton alta functions just like a 1:1 tutor, introducing personalized instruction, assessment, feedback and remediation while a student completes an assignment. By completing an assignment in alta, students successfully demonstrate their ability to retain, recall and apply concepts for future use. Knewton Alta
