Consumer Math, First Semester (HMA1531B)

In Consumer Math, students study concepts that they can apply in their personal lives and in their future careers. The first semester course begins with the first four units covering arithmetic and algebraic skills of Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Percents, Equations, Linear Functions, Graphing, Formulas, Ratios, and Proportions. Unit 5 focuses on occupational topics of Bank Accounts, Wages, Deductions, and Taxes with Unit 6 consisting of business topics of Goods, Services, and Inventory. Interactive lessons, narrated videos, and practice problems help illustrate the content. The students will complete 3 real-life application projects, 21 lesson quizzes, 6 Unit Exams, and 1 Semester Final Exam. Although it is not a pre-requisite, having completed an Algebra course prior to enrollment is highly recommended before taking this course.

Note

The assessments in this course are heavily based on real world problem solutions.
